Carriage Lane enjoyed a successful
week at the historic Illinois State Fairgrounds.
The show was highlighted by the unanimous win
of New York's Perfect Gift in the Junior Three-gaited
division. Rudy and John's performance earned them
the unique honor of "Best in Show",
an award selected by the judging panel from all
the show entries. It was an honor to receive this
title. Betsy and all the Carriage Lane staff were thrilled.
Betsy debuted to much talk with her new mare,
My California Girl. This flashy pair will be fun
to watch as they show throughout the year.
Swish and Carol Hillenbrand contiuned their winning
ways with unanimous victories in the Amateur Five-Gaited
Championship and qualifier classes.
Carol and CH Just Special again emerged victorious
in the Show Pleasure qualifying class. Justin
returned with the title of Reserve Grand Champion
in the Show Pleasure Championship.
WCC Coco Loco successfully defended his title
from Midwest 2005. He and John were named Grand
Champion and Champion Open Fine Harness. Coco
(CH The King of Highpoint x Coco G.S.) is proudly
owned by Fritz and Candace Meili and their daughter,
Corbin Smith. Fritz and Corbin were leading the
cheers when Candace showed the blonde beauty Last
Cat Standing to a reserve in the Show Pleasure
Driving Class for drivers 39 and over. They returned
with a top ribbon in the championship. This pair
continues to improve!!
Locksley Hall, LLC was excited about the performance
of The Rock Star. Rocky loves to show and was
victorious in the UPHA Park Pleasure Classic.
A new customer, Locksley Limited Co, scored a
big win with the surprise return of CH In My Heart
to the three-gaited division. "Mya"
has long been a Carriage Lane favorite and has
been successful for former owner Carol Hillenbrand
in both Three-Gaited and Park, winning at the
Kentucky State Fair and the top shows across the
country. Now Mya teamed with John to win the title
of Grand Champion Three-Gaited Horse at Midwest.
Plans are for Mya to team with Dirk Peterson in
the Amateur Gentleman's Division before joining
the growing band of broodmares at Carriage Lane.
Tracy Garcia teamed with her celebrated star,
That's Chicago, to earn a Reserve in the Amateur
Over 15.2 class. For Reference Only, aka Doc,
scored impressive ribbons in the always competetive
Show Pleasure division.
